Sector centrality explorer

PageRank centrality by instrument, alongside raw participation share, on the asset side and the liability side, for every sector in the network. 2003–2026, quarterly.

Assets

Importance as a holder of claims on the rest of the network.

Data coverage — balances vs. intersectoral series

Liabilities

Importance as an obligor relied upon by the rest of the network.

Data coverage — balances vs. intersectoral series

The shaded bands split each quarter's total PageRank (solid line) across instruments in proportion to each instrument's own PageRank on its single-instrument subgraph — a relative-weight allocation, not an exact algebraic decomposition (PageRank is non-linear, so per-instrument scores computed independently don't sum to the combined-graph score on their own). The dashed line is raw participation: each instrument's share of the total is proportional to its own PageRank rather than something more direct because we want to show its relative decomposition — the same edges that swap creditor → debtor in the source data (see normalize_flow_direction) mean PageRank on the graph as built accumulates at debtors; the asset panel uses the reversed graph, the liability panel the forward graph. Top 3 + others ranks instruments by their mean contribution over the full series for the panel and side being shown, and sums the rest into a single neutral "Others" band.
